Adopted frameworks succeed or fail at the classroom level. K12PD operates at the implementation layer, the daily translation of training and strategy into practice across every teacher and every lesson. Coach in Residence: Structured Literacy is the standalone product built on this methodology.
The methodology applies across framework domains. The current focus is the implementation of the Minnesota READ Act.
Adopted frameworks succeed or fail in classrooms
The methodology is organized around four operating layers: an implementation cycle anchored to statutory documentation, a daily coaching layer at the moment of teaching, a structured Tier 2 problem-solving protocol, and a year-long engagement architecture designed to produce evidence rather than activity.

Structured action plans serve as the anchor of the K12PD methodology. For each student requiring more than universal Tier 1 instruction, the action plan becomes the planning artifact, the execution anchor, and the update mechanism. A single document that travels through the implementation cycle, used and revised at each stage. The Action Plan Coach guides teachers through a five-step protocol to build each plan: describe what's happening, identify the underlying problem, set a measurable goal, plan specific moves, and name the evidence that will demonstrate change.

Implementation falters most often after the training ends — in the moments when a teacher has to translate a strategy into a specific move with a specific student, without a coach in the room. The methodology places framework-specific AI coaching at exactly those moments. Not a replacement for teacher judgment, but a thinking partner grounded in the specific pedagogy of the framework being implemented.

Tier 2 intervention typically operates on the periphery of implementation systems, with paraprofessionals and interventionists working in parallel rather than connected to classroom planning. K12PD treats Tier 2 as part of the same cycle. Interventionists, paraprofessionals, reading specialists, and Title I teachers work through a parallel coaching tool built around a four-step problem-solving protocol. Context from each student's action plan is handed off from the classroom teacher and informs the Tier 2 work. Action plans produced through the protocol are reviewable by the Lead and iterable by the team.

Most professional development produces activity logs without producing evidence of implementation change. K12PD engagements are structured so that the work itself produces the evidence. The engagement runs as a series of touchpoints across the school year, paced around the district's own screening windows and PLC structure: implementation work between screenings, data validation at each window, and a year-end report that consolidates the year's work into evidence ready for the Local Literacy Plan. The shape of the engagement adapts to the district's calendar.

Coach in Residence: Structured Literacy launches for the 2026-27 school year. The launch cohort is small and selectively built; founding-cohort terms apply.
K12PD’s methodology is built framework by framework. The current focus is on structured literacy, applied to the implementation of the Minnesota READ Act. Framework applications for multilingual learners and gifted instruction have been in operation since 2025, deployed at the teacher level through TPAI, a graduate course platform founded by the same practitioner.

Districts with an adopted framework and a real implementation problem can inquire about partnership conversations. New framework applications are built with the same depth that produced K12PD’s current work: framework-specific pedagogy, practitioner-built tools, calibrated coaching layers. Engagements are taken on selectively.
K12PD is built by a practitioner. Twenty-five years in K-12 classrooms, including twelve years in international schools in Guatemala City and Istanbul, with specialist work in multilingual learner and gifted education. Based in Minnesota.
K12PD extends work that began with TPAI, a self-paced graduate course platform founded in 2018 and used by educators across all 50 states. Coach in Residence tools for multilingual learners and gifted instruction are embedded in select TPAI courses, where teachers use them as part of their graduate-credit work. K12PD applies the same methodology to classroom-level, district-facing implementation — the place where adopted frameworks actually take hold.
